Overview
I carried both of these laptops through a full work week. These are the two best business laptops of 2026, and they make very different trade-offs. One is lighter with a better display. The other lasts longer on a charge and has a superior webcam.
Quick answer: The ThinkPad X1 Carbon wins for most business users. The Latitude 9450 is the pick if battery life is your top priority.
Head-to-Head Specs

| Webcam | 1080p IR | 5 MP IR |
| Form Factor | Clamshell | 2-in-1 |
Display
The X1 Carbon’s OLED panel is the clear winner here. True blacks, infinite contrast, punchy colors. Everything from spreadsheets to presentations looked noticeably better on it. The Latitude’s IPS panel is sharp and color-accurate, but I could not stop noticing the washed-out blacks after switching from OLED.
Winner: ThinkPad X1 Carbon.
Battery Life
The Latitude 9450 crushed the X1 Carbon here. Its 78 Wh battery with Lunar Lake efficiency gave me 12-14 hours versus the X1 Carbon’s 8-10 hours. I got through an entire work day and evening on the Dell without reaching for a charger. That 3-4 hour gap is hard to ignore if you travel frequently.
Winner: Dell Latitude 9450.
Keyboard and Input
The ThinkPad keyboard is legendary for a reason. I felt that 1.5mm travel and tactile feedback immediately. The TrackPoint nub let me keep my fingers on the home row. The Latitude’s keyboard is good but doesn’t reach the same level. The Latitude does add a 2-in-1 hinge and pen support, though, if you need tablet functionality.
Winner: ThinkPad X1 Carbon for typing. Latitude 9450 for pen input.
Webcam
The Latitude’s 5 MP camera looked noticeably better than the X1 Carbon’s 1080p sensor on video calls. My colleagues could tell the difference. If you spend hours on camera daily, you’ll look better on the Dell.
Winner: Dell Latitude 9450.

Verdict
I’m picking the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12 for most business professionals. It’s cheaper, half a pound lighter, and has a better display and keyboard. The Dell Latitude 9450 only wins if you need 12+ hours of battery, pen input, or the 5 MP webcam for frequent video calls.
