Display
The Yoga 9i 14’s 2.8K OLED panel at 90Hz stopped me in my tracks. Perfect blacks, vivid colors, and razor-sharp text from that pixel-level dimming. DCI-P3 coverage is excellent, and HDR content genuinely pops.
The Surface Laptop 7 has a larger 15” IPS display at 2496x1664. It’s sharp and bright with good color accuracy, but IPS can’t match OLED contrast. I noticed blacks looking grayish in dim lighting, and HDR playback felt flat. The 3:2 aspect ratio is great for productivity and document work, though.

The Surface Laptop 7 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite, an ARM-based chip. Native ARM apps ran fast and efficiently, and battery life benefited from the chip’s power efficiency. But I hit a few bumps with x86 apps running through Microsoft’s Prism emulation layer. Some older software had quirks, and I noticed occasional performance dips.
If you rely on a wide range of Windows desktop apps, the Yoga’s x86 Intel chip avoids compatibility headaches entirely. The Snapdragon excels with native apps and delivers longer battery life.
